Dover, NJ – October 5, 2018 – Polytron Devices recently introduced the HWB Series of 4:1 wide input, half-brick DC-DC converters which have earned EN50155 certification for EMC together with other essential railway approvals. The HWB Series offers outputs of 75W, 100W, 150W and 200W to cover a broad range of railway power needs.


Adherence to strict standards is a must for power components in railway environments, where harsh conditions and interactions between multiple electrical/electronic systems can affect safe and reliable operations. HWB Series DC-DC converters carry the CE mark and meet the EN50155 standard which requires electronic equipment to pass rigorous tests for EMC. The series also satisfies EN50121-3-2 (with external filter), the EN61000-4-2, -3, -4, -5, and -6 EMC standards, EN61373 for shock and vibration, and UL/EN/IEC 60950-1 for safety. Upon request, Polytron Devices can furnish the applicable reports.

These half-brick power supplies operate from 9-36V, 8.5-36V, 16.5-75V and 43-160V DC with no minimum load requirement, and they boast a high efficiency of up to 91 percent. The converters feature 2,250V isolation voltage (min., input to output), adjustable output voltage and remote ON/OFF control. Safeguards include overvoltage, overtemperature and short-circuit protections. Terminal blocks and heat sink options are also available.

HWB Series DC-DC converters measure 2.28” x 2.40” x 0.50 and comply with RoHS and REACH directives. Prices range from US$66.00 to $156 each (in quantities of 1,000), depending on wattage and options.
